How credit cards are different from debit cards

The way a credit card works is different from the way a debit card. Here's few major differences in their usage and working.
1. Credit card is a loan from the bank to you. It is a borrowing that will become due after the billing period. On the other hand, debit cards let you access your own funds.
2. When you make an online payment with your debit card, the transaction is protected by multiple layers of security, including verification with a one-time password. Secure your credit card similarly with your bank, before using it online.

3. When you use your credit card online, you have time to dispute a wrong charge, block a card for misuse, or take the issue up with the bank. If you use a debit card, money moves immediately out of your account and you are in a position of recovery of your funds.

4. Debit card usage may be limited by a daily amount allowed on your card, and not the amount available in your account. You can modify this amount to the maximum permissible one. A credit card limit is set for a payment cycle, and can be used freely.
